Arconia Kubernetes Service Binding

Arconia supports binding services running in Kubernetes to Spring Boot applications, relying on the Kubernetes Service Binding Specification.

The Spring ecosystem comes with support for this specification via the Spring Cloud Bindings library, which is used by other libraries in the Spring ecosystem as a foundation, such as Spring AI.

Arconia Kubernetes Service Binding extends this support to provide a more seamless experience for developers.

Dependencies

First, you need to add the Arconia Kubernetes Service Binding dependency to your project.

dependencies {
  implementation 'io.arconia:arconia-kubernetes-service-binding'
}

Services

When you deploy your Spring Boot application on a Kubernetes cluster which defines services via the Service Binding Specification, your application will automatically detect and bind to these services.

Core Services

The Spring Cloud Bindings library included in Arconia Kubernetes Service Binding will automatically configure the application to consume the following services:

  • ActiveMQ Artemis

  • Cassandra

  • Couchbase

  • DB2 RDBMS

  • Elasticsearch

  • Kafka

  • LDAP

  • MongoDB

  • MySQL RDBMS

  • Neo4J

  • Oracle RDBMS

  • PostgreSQL RDBMS

  • RabbitMQ

  • Redis

  • SAP Hana

  • SCS Config Server

  • SCS Eureka

  • Spring Security OAuth2

  • SQLServer RDBMS

  • Vault

  • Wavefront

The bindings are enabled by default. Check out the Spring Cloud Bindings documentation for more details about the supported services and how to configure them, including how to disable the bindings if you don’t want them.

AI Services

The Spring AI Cloud Bindings library included in Arconia Kubernetes Service Binding will automatically configure the application to consume the following AI services:

  • Chroma

  • Mistral AI

  • Ollama

  • OpenAI

  • Weaviate

  • Tanzu GenAI

The bindings are enabled by default. Check out the Spring AI Cloud Bindings documentation for more details about the supported services and how to configure them, including how to disable the bindings if you don’t want them.
